MAP Mixed Housing Development from East Street, Campbell Town - Report June 2022

Housing

For the past number of years, the Parish Council have been working towards developing the land, bounded by William Street, East Street and Pedder Street for Mixed Housing with some houses for sale, some for rent and others to be rented as affordable units. The Trustees of the Anglican Diocese of Tasmania have entered into a partnership agreement with Centacare Evolve Housing to develop the site. In June 2022 NMC issued the planning permit for Stage 1 which allows the development to move forward and commence on site in the upcoming months. Stage 1, which consists of 21 houses is expected to take a year to complete. Stage 2 is expected to follow on with a similar setup.

The houses will be a mix of 2 and 3 bedrooms with the larger houses having garages. All will be designed to complement their surroundings, will be fully accessible for people of all ages and capabilities, will be energy efficient, have their own private yards and be built round communal open areas.

This is a very exciting development aimed at providing much needed housing for those wishing to move into Campbell Town or for those who would like to downsize and free up their existing home for use by a family. The development is centrally located and is within walking distance of the Town Centre, Health and Community Centre, School, Memorial Oval and Churches. Centacare will manage the development and provide ongoing support, as needed, for their tenants.
