The land will be developed into a mixed housing development of 21 two-and three-bedroom dwellings, centred around an open, shared green space.

The development is made possible through significant funding by Homes Tasmania. “The housing crisis in Tasmania is well beyond breaking point, as rents continue to rise, homelessness skyrockets and charities are put under pressure to meet the growing demand for assistance to buy food and pay for household expenses,” says Bishop Chris Jones, Vicar General of Tasmania and CEO of Anglicare Tas.  “We need more housing across the state, from our urban centres to our rural towns, and we are pleased to use this land to develop housing that will meet some of the needs within the Campbell Town community. It is our hope that it will alleviate some of the housing pressure in the Northern Midlands.”

The development is designed in a modern heritage aesthetic, to complement the existing streetscape of Campbell Town. All dwellings are designed to be fully accessible, sustainable and energy efficient.

Midlands Anglican Parish have held a long-term vision to develop currently underutilised land adjacent to their parish and the Catholic Archdiocese of Hobart’s Speechhousing entity, Centacare Evolve Housing is delighted to enable the parish to bring this vision to life. We are thankful for the funding support from Homes Tasmania  to enable this important social and affordable housing development.” says Ben Wilson, CEO Centacare Evolve Housing.

The estimated timeframe for completion is October 2024.
